Switzerland – Traditional Mountain Cheeses

Episode 6, from Season 3

Switzerland has a reputation for producing the finest mountain cheeses in the world, and more than 75% of these are still made from raw milk. In this episode, Will samples Raclette and learns how it’s made traditionally over a wood fire. His journey then takes him to the beautiful town of Gruyere to look at the origins of a cheese whose name literally means ‘head of a monk’. Finally, it’s time to meet the king of Swiss cheese, Emmental and find out just how it gets its holes.
